We accept
We are a mobile locksmith service. There is no shop to drive to - the van comes to your door, any hour of the day, anywhere in Greater Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.
How We Started
NOW Locksmith began in 2009 with one van and one technician working nights across Vancouver. Lockouts do not keep office hours, and back then almost nobody would come out at 2 AM. That was the whole idea: pick up the phone when other people had stopped answering.
17 years later the job is the same and the hours are the same. What changed is the size of the map. One van could cover a few neighbourhoods; today there are more than ten technicians working out of the cities they live in, which is why a call from Surrey does not wait for someone to cross a bridge from downtown.
We never became a shop with a counter, and that was deliberate. A locksmith who sits behind a till is a locksmith who cannot be at your door in fifteen minutes.
Opening a Door Without Breaking It
This is the part of the job we care most about, and the part most people never think about until it is too late.
A locked door can always be opened. The question is what is left afterwards. Drilling the cylinder takes two minutes and means you are buying a new lock. Forcing the door takes less than that and means you are buying a new door, a new frame, or both. Either way the price of getting in quietly is a fraction of the price of getting in loudly.
Our technicians open locks with picks and bypass tools first, and reach for a drill only when the lock is already destroyed or the mechanism leaves no other way in. When that is the case, you are told before anything happens, not after.
If anyone offers to open your door for a suspiciously small amount and then arrives with a drill, that is not a bargain. That is the cost of a new lock moved from the quote to the invoice.
How 15 Minutes Is Possible
It is not a promise made by a dispatcher. It is arithmetic: technicians who already live in the city you are calling from.
More Than Ten Technicians
Enough people to keep vans on the road around the clock, including nights, weekends and holidays. A single-van operation cannot answer at 3 AM, whatever the website says.
Spread Across the Map
Technicians work out of the cities they live in. Help comes from your town rather than from across a bridge at rush hour, which is the whole difference between fifteen minutes and an hour.
The Van Is the Workshop
Cylinders, deadbolts, exit hardware and closers travel with the technician, so most jobs finish on the first visit instead of turning into two appointments.
What You Can Count On
- Licensed, bonded and insured. Ask any locksmith for this before they touch your door. If the answer is vague, close the door.
- Identification before work starts. Every technician arrives in a marked vehicle and will say who they are without being asked.
- Proof of residence for lockouts. We ask for ID or a document tying you to the address. It is the same check that stops somebody else being let into your home.
- You approve the work first. The technician explains what needs doing before anything is opened, drilled or replaced. Nothing starts until you say yes.
- Answered around the clock. Nights, weekends and statutory holidays are ordinary working hours here, not an exception with a surcharge attached to the word.
